Dharmendra’s Family Refutes False Death Reports, Urges Respect for Privacy
The rumours that actor Dharmendra has passed away spread on Monday morning. This news was a shock for his fans and the film industry. The news about his death gained traction across social media. He was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital because of respiratory issues. The news of his death picked up momentum when a senior government minister tweeted a condolence message.
Dharmendra’s wife, actor and politician, Hema Malini had written earlier on Twitter, ‘I thank everyone for their concern about Dharam ji who is in hospital for observation. He is being continuously monitored and we are all with him. I request you all to pray for his welfare and speedy recovery.’
While battling a tide of misinformation, Dharmendra’s daughter Esha Deol issued a clear and firm statement. Esha Deol stated on Instagram post, “The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. we request everyone to give our family privacy. Thank you for the prayers for papas speedy recovery.” Their family wants that official updates should be shared and any speculations should be avoided.
Hema Malini, also condemned “irresponsible” media coverage about Dharmendra’s health. Hema Malini expressed on Twitter, ‘What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and is recovering? This is being extremely disrespectful and irresponsible. Please give due respect to the family and its need for privacy.’
Overall, social media amplified the news about Dharmendra’s death. However, Esha Deol and Hema Malini clarified the misinformation regarding his death.
